Shema is a Hebrew word that means "hear" or "listen." It is also the name of a prayer that is recited daily in Jewish tradition, consisting of three biblical passages, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Deuteronomy 11:13-21, and Numbers 15:37-41. The Shema is one of the most important prayers in Judaism and is considered a declaration of faith in one God. It also emphasizes the duty to love and serve God, to teach His commandments to our children, and to bind His words on our hands and forehead. The Shema is recited twice daily, in the morning and evening, and is often recited by a dying person as a final declaration of faith.
